Toronto Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers
George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden Fall Classic following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final seventh game of the ALCS.
Down 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, Toronto, our country," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "It's truly an amazing experience."
George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, placing him third on the list after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I want up in that situation besides George Springer with his post-season brilliance," said manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series.
Wilson stated "there's no question that it's painful" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their efforts this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he added.
Toronto claimed the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
