The Streaming Giant Selects Perfect Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a adored, fan-favorite member has now been chosen.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Bentham. The role has the ability to transform into an exact copy of any person they’ve touched with their right hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will play a version of that role reinterpreted as non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the source material and anime.

Escola is joined by multiple new cast members who will portray the organization to the screen, such as leader Sir Crocodile, played by the well-known actor, a talented actress as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who is also part of the ensemble as the monarch of Alabasta.

Even though the role is a important part of Baroque Works, the individual will be introduced in One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this marks a major departure in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could suggest additional alterations to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. Besides their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for penning and acting in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded characters.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is set to return for its second season on March 10, 2026.
