Approximately 55,000 households have so far been affected by the rains, with their possessions and temporary homes ruined.

Persistent storms over the past week have worsened the already dire living conditions of the vast number of evacuated residents in the territory, as reported by aid groups.

"Terrible" Weather Creates Serious Risks

A representative described the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"These conditions was truly horrendous for the families. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gusts were so strong," noted the spokesperson.

Authorities voice extreme concern that children sheltering in makeshift shelters in damp clothing will contract hypothermia and additional ailments.

Fatalities and Widespread Destruction

Medical officials have reported that one baby has passed away from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have died in building collapses due to the storms.

Additional accounts put a greater death toll. Officials reported that numerous residential buildings had totally fallen and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Nearly 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces submerged.
  • Countless residents required to find new shelter.

Assistance Efforts Seen as Inadequate

Agencies have escalated shipments of tarpaulins, bedding and clothes after the halt in hostilities started, but they stress there is still not enough aid getting in.

"We are working relentlessly to provide that relief and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the requirements is so enormous that we continue to see many thousands of families and minors who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," stated one official.

Long-Term Challenges and Ceasefire Provisions

The next stage of the agreement encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the pullback of personnel, and other conditions.

Humanitarian organizations have highlighted the necessity for "greater and continuous relief to address pressing and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Following actions have caused a significant number of fatalities in the region, based on medical reports.
