Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck two times late to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
