An Australian man who jumped over a barricade and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been deported and barred from Singapore.

The man, twenty-six, was handed a penalty to over a week in jail for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority informed news outlets.

Wen pushed past photographers and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was participating in the Asian premier for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

Wen has a history of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in this summer.

The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with many saying he of triggering past trauma for the singer.

The celebrity has discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her show in the UK city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 people and injured hundreds.

Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the film's premiere twice, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Event security prevented him and pinned him down.

Wen later posted videos thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Police took him into custody the following day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The District Judge Christopher Goh was cited by Channel News Asia as stating that he was looking for publicity, noting that he was mistaken to assume he would not experience repercussions.

The singer has not commented on the case.

Cynthia Erivo spoke about the event to the press, saying that she "just wanted to make sure my friend was secure."

"I think he didn't intend us injury, but you can't predict with those things, and I sought to make sure that she was fine. That was my immediate response," she stated.
