Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
