Golden sun, savory pies and iconic stadiums - what else would an Three Lions follower desire?

Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to reclaim the urn following the initial matches.

This is not the case during this tour, after a comprehensive victory by 82 runs in Adelaide gave Australia leading three-nil for the fourth successive Ashes series on their own soil.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have a large group traveling for the final two Tests in the SCG and MCG.

In addition, there are travel parties who will be vacationing down under, as well as families and friends heading for a special expedition.

The Disappointed Travelers

The Ryding siblings are among those affected.

The four siblings had their flights and tickets arranged for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "a full year in advance", hoping to witness a long-awaited triumph.

Sadly, they've observed Australia defeat England convincingly in just a short period from their house in the north of England.

"Everyone at work has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"We always thought that we would have the series on the line by the time we arrived."

Lowered Expectations

There was plenty of positivity regarding the team's prospects of breaking a 15-year drought for a series win in Australia before it began.

However, the situation is now looking at the possibility of extending their winless run in the country to 19 matches when the fourth Test gets under way in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

The England team - and their supporters - will be keen to prevent a whitewash.

It was mentioned that the "excitement and fun" of head coach Brendon McCullum's 'Bazball' in the past couple of seasons had "renewed interest in" Test cricket for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had low expectations for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are hoping for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"All analysts alludes to it, but it all comes down to fortitude. 'Bazball' has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," added Rory.

"During a long match, you should apply yourself. Chasing balls 'wide of off stump has never been in the coaching manuals, and that is mainly the fault the top order."

Future Prospects

Prompted about he believed England will triumph in a Test in the current series, Sam said: "It looks like the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"There is going to have to be several individuals that delivers for the team and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the siblings are still looking forward to the trip.

"We are going to have a fantastic experience anyway," commented Katie Ryding. "We have to go with that mindset."

"Obviously it is unfortunate we don't have more to play for, but we have invested a significant amount already."

"We will make the most of spending the festive season in Australia. This will be a new experience for us traveling at this time of year."

A teacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the long-haul travel as part of her Christmas holidays.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I can play golf to rely on," she added.
