Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
