A Pig's Tale: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a new presidential term.

“Unless you count eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, provided by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “6-7” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: joyful, multicultural, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way unique to Miami.”

Attendees enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach fritters and Cuban coffee as they toasted the swine's new lease on life.
